Rounds of counselling

MCC conducts four online rounds of All India Quota counselling — Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and a Stray Vacancy Round — as approved by the Supreme Court (SLA (C) No. 10487 of 2021). Each round has registration/payment, choice filling and locking, seat allotment, result and physical reporting.[1]

Exit with forfeiture
If you are allotted a seat in Round 2 or a later round and do not join, you can leave only by forfeiting your security deposit. Once you join a seat allotted after Round 3, you cannot resign or surrender it.[1]

Frequently asked questions

QDo I need to register separately for MCC and state counselling?

Yes. MCC counsels only All India Quota, deemed, central university, AIIMS and JIPMER seats. State-quota seats are allotted by each state’s counselling authority on its own portal.[1]

QWhen is the MCC security deposit forfeited?

If you are allotted a seat in Round 2 or later and do not join it, or if an admission is cancelled (for example, because of wrong information or missing documents), the security deposit is forfeited.[1]
