04Eligibility

Who is eligible for the Competent Authority Quota?

  1. 1Indian national, Person of Indian Origin or OCI cardholder, as permitted by the applicable rules.
  2. 2Satisfy Telangana local candidature requirements.
  3. 3Qualify NEET PG 2026 with the prescribed score.
  4. 4MBBS or equivalent from an eligible NMC-recognized medical institution.
  5. 5Compulsory rotating internship completed by 30 September 2026.
  6. 6Valid permanent registration from the Telangana State Medical Council.
  7. 7Any additional conditions prescribed by the government and university.

The local candidate rule

Under G.O. Ms. No. 148 (28 Oct 2024), local candidature is based on studying in Telangana institutions for at least four consecutive years, ending with the academic year you appeared (or first appeared) in the qualifying exam. Exceptions cover certain statewide institutions, such as the circumstances associated with Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada.

From another state? Not for CQ seats

The 2026 CQ prospectus expressly states candidates from other states are not eligible — important for MBBS graduates from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and elsewhere. And MBBS admission in Telangana under the Non-Local Quotadoesn't automatically make you local. Look at the separate Management Quota instead.

Competent Authority Quota · quick self-check

Indicative only — KNRUHS determines eligibility after scrutinizing your documents.

  • Do you satisfy Telangana local candidature (G.O. Ms. No. 148)?
  • Did you score at least your category's NEET PG 2026 cutoff?
  • Did you complete your internship by 30 September 2026?
  • Do you hold valid permanent registration with the Telangana State Medical Council?
