From outside Karnataka?

Yes, you can participate — for certain seat categories

Registering with KEA doesn't make a candidate from Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh or elsewhere eligible for every Karnataka seat. Here's how the bulletin treats you:

  • Karnataka reservation benefits

    Non-Karnataka candidates are not eligible.

  • Qualifying standard

Must meet the General/Unreserved NEET PG qualifying standard for registration.

  • OPN — open private seats

Open to eligible Indian citizens with a recognized MBBS. No Karnataka domicile needed to compete.

  • GMP private seats

Restricted to candidates meeting the specified Karnataka eligibility clauses.

  • G — Government seats

Subject to Karnataka-specific eligibility clauses — don't assume eligibility from NEET PG alone.

  • N — NRI seats

Only with valid NRI eligibility and documents.

04Seat types

11Later rounds & upgradation

Round 2, Round 3 (Mop-Up) & Stray Vacancy

After Round 1, KEA carries the process forward according to the admission rules and its official schedule.

Round 2

Participation depends on your Round 1 status. Specific rules apply to candidates who retained a seat for upgradation, surrendered, or remained unallotted.

Original documents required for specified candidate categories

Round 3 (Mop-Up)

Further allotment opportunities based on the applicable rules and available vacancies.

Eligibility depends on earlier allotments, admission status and MCC/KEA conditions

Stray Vacancy

Remaining seats under the prescribed counselling framework.

Eligibility can be restricted by earlier allotment or joining status

Upgradation & withdrawal — know the rules

  • A previous seat can be retained when no upgrade occurs under Choice 2.
  • A successful upgrade replaces the previous allotment.
  • Surrendering a seat is different from retaining it for upgradation.
  • Missing document-submission or payment requirements may affect later-round eligibility.
  • Not reporting after confirming an allotment can lead to cancellation and forfeiture.

Withdrawing doesn't guarantee later-round eligibility

The exact financial penalty depends on the round and governing rules. Verify KEA's forfeiture and withdrawal provisions before deciding not to join an allotted institution.
12Bonds & service

Compulsory service obligations

These can affect you after you finish your PG course

The PGET 2026 bulletin includes provisions on compulsory service and government-seat service obligations, subject to applicable statutory provisions, amendments and government orders.
