About JEE (MAIN)
The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (now known as Ministry of Education), Government of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main) to the NTA from 2019 onwards.
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) comprises two papers. The Paper1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B. Tech) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/ recognized by participating State Governments, as well as an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs.
The JEE (Main) is being conducted in multiple Sessions (February/March/April/May) for admissions in the next academic session to give opportunities to students to improve their scores in the examination if they fail to give their best in the first attempt without wasting or dropping their whole academic year.The student’s best of the 2021 NTA Scores will be considered for preparation of Merit List/ Ranking
JEE Main 2021 Eligibility Criteria
NTA has released the eligibility criteria for BTech, BArch and BPlan papers. Candidates must fulfill all the eligibility conditions to be eligible for JEE Mains. The eligibility criteria for JEE Main will comprise the conditions such as age criteria, year of appearance in qualifying exam, qualifying subject, qualifying marks and total attempts.
Age Limit Criteria:
There is no upper age limit for appearing in JEE Main. Candidates who have passed class 12th or equivalent in recent 2 years or appearing irrespective of their age can appear in JEE Main.
Maximum number of Attempts:
Candidates can take the exam maximum for 3 years consecutively. Candidates can sit for all four sessions- February, March, April and May sessions. All of these will be counted as a single attempt.
Candidates who have qualified their XII or equivalent exam in recent 2 years or appearing in this year are eligible to sit for JEE Main. Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% in aggregate of the QE to sit for B. Planning Paper. B.E/ B. Tech applicants must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational Subject. For B. Arch, candidates must have passed the Qualifying Examination with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination:
Candidates must have passed their XII or equivalent exam in the last 2 years or appearing in this year can sit for JEE Main. Candidates who passed class XII or QE in 2018 or before as well as those who will appear in such examinations or later are not eligible to appear in JEE Main.
